Woo hoo! Our first ever parcel going from
Edinburgh to Lily (Love in the Language of Yarn) in Turkey with the wonderful DHL delivery man. He
patiently explained what to do with the paperwork for shipping and then
sportingly agreed to have his photo taken for our page. A
million times thank you to DHL for your generous sponsorship with our
postage. It will make such a difference, enabling our group to help many more people in need around the
world.

Trying something new
Lots of crochet with our tea and coffee this week as we tried out making little birds using amigurumi techniques. All the concentration meant there was more muttering of instructions and counts than chat! Making these little birds wasn’t for everyone and some granny squares appeared too.
Tada one finished (rather angry) bird.
There was some knitting of blanket squares too,
and a visit from a knitted yellow duck destined to be left somewhere as part of the little yellow duck project raising awareness of donor schemes.
We have sent off our first parcel of 105 squares to LILY to be made into blankets for Syrian refugees, thanks to who are very generously sponsoring the postage for our parcel each month.
If you want to join us as we crochet, knit, enjoy tea and coffee, and chat - then please use the contact form on the right, and we will send you details of where to find us on a Wednesday afternoon.

MacDuck (the wee duck on the right) is heading off from Edinburgh to
Minnesota in a few weeks' time to find a new family there. MacDuck's
friend has yet to find a name and destination, so if you are going
somewhere and would like to name him and take him along with you,
please use our contact from to get in touch.
Find out why MacDuck is leaving his friend behind to travel all that way on The Little Yellow Duck Project

fundraising ideas
The chat, coffee / tea and colourful wool are a constant at our Wednesday meetings.
Making 20 cm squares is another constant as both KAS and LILY need squares to make into blankets for people in need.
We have also been talking about making some items to sell to raise money to provide some much needed add ins such as needles and extra wool.
We thought that one area we would focus on was the ‘sell a lot of a small item’. Our current ideas are a range of small animals
and colourful brooches.
We welcomed another lovely new member this week and are always pleased to include new people who want to knit or crochet or do other crafts for charity over a cuppa and a chat. If you want to join us just fill in the contact form on the right.

Stacking up the squares for Lily
Plenty of crochet, knitting, coffee and chat at our meeting again this week
Mostly we are making 20cm squares at the moment to send to LILY (Love in the Language of Yarn) who make them into blankets for Syrian refugees.
Many of us crochet or knit at home too and we admired 2 stacks of colourful knitted squares. We think we will have 3 blankets full of squares to send of by the end of the month – that’s over 100 squares and 3 refugee children wrapped in a warm blanket and the knowledge people are thinking of them.
We meet every Wednesday afternoon to knit and crochet and chat and enjoy great coffee and tea (and often cake or scones too). We are growing all the time and welcome anyone who wants to craft items for charity. If you want to join us fill in the contact form on the right hand side and we’ll send you all the details of our next meetings.
